It may be easier than ever to be in bed with a little Viagra or to take a pill that isn’t for you. But can you take Viagra with or without food?
There’s a lot of debate in the United States about whether Viagra is more effective than sildenafil (Viagra) or the other two — a little Viagra or a little Viagra that’s not for you.
The FDA has approved more than 100 different treatments for erectile dysfunction, but only one of these is approved by the Food and Drug Administration for men. The other, known as sildenafil (Viagra), is approved by the FDA for women, but not men.
Viagra is one of the medications that’s the main treatment for women’s sexual health. But it’s also one of the treatments that the FDA has approved for men. And its efficacy has been called off after a man said he didn’t want to take Viagra.
“There’s a lot of conflicting information out there,” said Dr. Bruceaughlin, a urologist at New York University Medical Center.
Viagra is only FDA-approved for women and men with a history of blood vessels in the penis that aren’t open to the blood. But there’s some confusion about whether Viagra is a better treatment than the other two.
Viagra has the FDA’s stamp of approval, but it doesn’t have a brand name or medical use label. And it’s not the first time that Viagra has been on the market. A man who’s had erectile problems for 10 years has also been prescribed a generic version of Viagra called sildenafil.
The FDA has approved Viagra and sildenafil in the past, and the generic is not approved for women. But it’s more than three decades since the first pills for men arrived.
Viagra can be taken with or without food. And Viagra is available over the counter without a prescription.
Dr. Bruceaughlin and Dr. Jane Smith, of the University of Toronto, have some suggestions for men who’d like to try the medication.
“I’d be interested in trying it for myself. I have some other conditions that I’m currently on, so I’m just going to start with a bit of a different one. I’m not going to say Viagra for men is a good choice,” said Dr. Jane Smith, who oversees the medical center’s male erectile dysfunction program.
“It’s an amazing medication, but if it’s not for you, you shouldn’t take it,” she said.
Viagra is approved for men with erectile dysfunction, but not women. Viagra is approved for women and not men, and it’s more than eight years since the first pills were approved for men.
Viagra and sildenafil are not on the same label. And Viagra isn’t the only treatment for women’s sexual health. There have been other medications approved for women’s sexual health, including several that have been tested on men.
“For example, you might be interested in a Viagra pill that’s been approved by the FDA, but the other two are not,” said Dr.
And while some of these medications may not be effective, they still aren’t the only treatments that women have been prescribed.
“Some of the treatments we’re prescribing to women are a little bit off, but it’s something we’ve discussed with women who have not been on any of these medications,” Dr. Smith said.
Viagra isn’t the only treatment for women’s sexual health.
